Adams Park, Wycombe

Wycombe Wanderers Football Club today find themselves in the Sky Bet League 1 Play-offs as the League One Clubs voted by an overwhelming majority to formally end the 2019/20 season as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic that has shook the world. This left the Buckinghamshire side in the highest position the club has ever achieved in English Football, 3rd place in the third tier.

Wycombe Wanderers will play Fleetwood Town while Oxford United will face Portsmouth for a place in the final with the prize of joining Coventry City and Rotherham United in the Championship for the 2020/21 season.

For those that haven't had the pleasure of visiting the club, it lies at the end of an industrial site, flanked by trees and fields in what is an unexpected picturesque and tranquil setting for a stadium holding around 10,000 fans. Here at PRiME Media Images, we've been lucky enough to be the official club photographers for the club for the past 5 season's and while we'll be collating a blog of our favourite photographs from the season we though it was worth concentrating on the ground itself.

The modest ground, by today's standards as it was built for £3.5m in 1990 was previously known as the Causeway Stadium between 2003 and 2006 before reverting to its previous name of Adams Park. Lots can be read on Wikipedia so we'll focus on some of our images of the ground.

PRiME Media Images have permission from the Civil Aviation Authority to conduct Aerial Photography using Drones, which allowed us to take this image, which was shot shortly after the pitch was relayed during the break in the season resulting from the COVID-19 Pandemic that eventually saw the curtailment of the 2019/20 football season. You'll see that in this image the pitch has not yet been marked out.

Adams Park is a great place to be for night games, no more so than after the New Years day match on 1 Jan 2020 against Ipswich Town, which ended with the scores even at 1-1. The fireworks were organised by the Couhig family, who later concluded the purchase of the club later that month.

The club rely on a host of volunteers to keep the stadium looking good and no more than when bad weather hits. This image above was taken in 2 February 2019 as volunteers clear snow prior to the Sky Bet League One fixture against Bradford City.

And, of course, any good stadium deserves a great pitch and the team at Turf Tronics do an amazing job on the Adams Park playing surface.
